The Client

Marzena came to me needing patient and supportive assistance in decluttering, organization, and room refreshing. Two years after the loss of her husband, she felt ready to start letting go of items that were no longer needed and was ready to start the next chapter of her life and wanted to sell her home in the process. Because she had been struggling with her recent loss, the stress of it all made her sick and maintaining her home became harder during the pandemic. Although the home was full of love and memories, the clutter and mess became too overwhelming for Marzena to handle on her own.

The process:

I came over for tea and we spoke about what she had gone through, what I have gone through, and how I felt I could help her. Over the next two weeks, we slowly worked together in purging her entire first floor, her living room, bathroom, closets, and bedroom.

I did the best I could in reminding her that we are in no rush and that we don’t have to do anything she wasn’t ready for, but every day Marzena’s strength and determination to start fresh amazed me and I am very proud of the progress she has made since.

The Transformation

When we were finished, I used items she already owned to help stage her home to prepare for realtor photos. I gave Marzena advice on how to carry the organization into her new home only to find out that she loved her new spaces so much that she decided to keep her home and continue working toward strengthening her mental and physical health.

Marzena is now a dear friend and she has taught me so much. My favourite part of my job is seeing the relief and happiness she felt once this process was over. I could feel her spirits lighten and my goal is to make sure every future client gets this feeling, too!
